Privacy Policy

How Outside! collects, uses, shares, and protects information while helping people in Jamaica discover activities and plan outings.

Effective May 25, 2026PaulSmith.Codes

1. Who controls your information

PaulSmith.Codes operates Outside! and is responsible for the personal information described in this Privacy Policy. This policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, retain, protect, and delete information when you use Outside!.

You can contact us about privacy or account deletion at support@outsidejamaica.com.

2. Information you provide

We collect information you provide directly, including name, email address, profile photo, preferences, notification settings, saved activities, plans, invite responses, friend labels, activity submissions, reports, notes, source links, contact details, uploaded images, support emails, and business promotion requests.

If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive information made available by that provider, such as your account identifier, name, email address, and profile photo, depending on your provider settings.

3. Information collected automatically

We collect app and device information needed to operate and improve Outside!, including app version, build number, device type, operating system, locale, time zone, network status, push notification token, subscription entitlement status, feature usage, screen views, saved/drawn/planned activity events, diagnostics, and crash-adjacent error events.

Native app review prompt attempts may be stored locally on your device so we do not ask too often. We do not know whether you actually rated the app through Apple or Google review prompts.

4. Photos, files, and storage

If you choose a profile photo or submit an activity image, we process and store that file to provide the feature. We do not access your full photo library; your device's picker lets you choose what to share.

Activity and submission images may be stored in Firebase Storage. Activity cover images may be cached from approved sources so the app does not rely on unstable third-party image URLs.

5. Analytics and session replay

We use PostHog analytics to understand product usage, diagnose issues, evaluate onboarding, measure interaction with features, sponsored listings, referral cards, plans, saves, Jar draws, paywalls, and improve Outside!.

Session replay may be enabled to help us understand bugs and user experience issues. It is configured to mask text and images so it is not used to read private plan notes, personal content, or sensitive screen details.

6. How we use information

We use information to create and manage accounts, personalize recommendations, operate the Idea Jar, save activities, create and manage plans, support friend and invite features, process submissions and reports, provide customer support, manage subscriptions, send notifications you enable, detect abuse, troubleshoot problems, secure the service, comply with law, and improve or market Outside!.

7. Legal bases and legitimate interests

We process information to perform our agreement with you, with your consent where required, to comply with legal obligations, and for legitimate interests such as app security, fraud prevention, product improvement, support, analytics, moderation, and operating a reliable local discovery service.

8. How information is shared

We do not sell your personal information. We share information with service providers that help operate Outside!, including Firebase/Google Cloud for authentication, database, storage, messaging, App Check, and cloud functions; Apple and Google for app distribution, authentication, billing, and subscriptions; RevenueCat for subscription entitlement management; PostHog for analytics and masked session replay; and email or link providers when you choose to contact us or open links.

Plan details are shared with people included in that plan. Public activity listings may include approved submitted details after moderation, but account deletion removes or anonymizes personal owner identifiers where practical.

9. Legal, safety, and business disclosures

We may disclose information if we believe it is necessary to comply with law, respond to lawful requests, protect rights, safety, property, users, businesses, or the public, investigate misuse, enforce our Terms, prevent fraud, or support a merger, acquisition, financing, restructuring, or transfer of assets.

10. Retention

We keep information for as long as needed to provide Outside!, maintain your account, operate plans and subscriptions, process submissions, provide support, maintain security, prevent abuse, resolve disputes, comply with legal obligations, and keep reasonable business records.

Some records may be retained after account deletion where necessary for legal, security, fraud prevention, billing, tax, audit, backup, dispute, or operational purposes. Where practical, we remove or anonymize direct personal identifiers.

11. Account deletion

You can delete your account from the Profile screen in the Outside! app. Deletion removes your account profile, public profile, saved activities, friend links, notification tokens, profile images, submission images, and other personal app data associated with your account, subject to limited retention described in this policy.

Plans you created may be cancelled so participants are not left with broken references. If you were a participant in someone else's plan, you will be removed from that plan. Deleting your Outside! account does not cancel App Store or Google Play subscriptions; you must manage subscriptions through the store account used to purchase them.

If you cannot access the app, contact support@outsidejamaica.com from the email address associated with your account and request deletion.

12. Your choices and rights

You can update profile details, preferences, saved items, notification preferences, appearance settings, and some plan data in the app. You can disable push notifications in the app or device settings. You can manage subscriptions through Apple or Google.

Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or receive a copy of certain personal information. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.

13. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, including Firebase security rules, authentication, App Check, role-based admin access, storage controls, and provider security controls. No system can be guaranteed completely secure.

14. International processing

Outside! is built for Jamaica, but our service providers may process and store information in Jamaica, the United States, or other countries. Those countries may have different data protection laws. We use service providers that support appropriate security and contractual protections.

15. Children

Outside! is not intended for children under 13. If we learn that we collected personal information from a child under 13 without appropriate permission, we will take steps to delete it.

16. Changes and contact

We may update this Privacy Policy as Outside! changes or legal requirements evolve. If changes are material, we will take reasonable steps to notify you through the app, website, or another appropriate channel.

Questions, privacy requests, and deletion requests can be sent to support@outsidejamaica.com.
